Shadows of the Empire
Overview
This was the first Star Wars game to be released
for the N64, and for such an early game, it isn't that bad. Anyway....in
Shadows you play Dash Rendar, mercenary for hire stuck at Echo Base at the
Battle of Hoth. During the game, you walk on foot, fly the Outrider, pilot
a swoop, and fly the classic snowspeeder at Hoth. A relatively good game,
but they should have spent more time on it. I don't think it lived up to
its potential.
Gameplay
The gameplay is pretty user-friendly. Personally,
I think using the first-person options are easiest, but no one is as perfect
as me. Some of you might enjoy the horrible messed up fixed-camera view that
lets you run but it doesn't follow you. The third-person view isn't half-bad,
but i'm a first-person guy. And you can change the controls around if you
find them too messed up.
Graphics
*cough
cough* did Lucasarts really do this??? Ok, so this is an old game, but the
graphics weren't up to par. Most of the other games that came out at this
time looked good, why was this the exception. Of course, it looks good because
its on N64 and not Playstation but still, it was too polygonish. Some parts
seemed a bit "fuzzy". Also, you could see the little jaggies on the edges
of objects. Oh well, now its time for.....
Music and Sound
Kickass. How can anyone get sick of Star Wars music???
Except for that one little bit usually played in cutscenes, I didn't like
that. But everything else was peachy keen. The sounds were pretty good, but
the laser sound over and over can get me pissy.
Replay Value
*wiping dust off the cartridge* Well, would you look at
that, i haven't played this in months....
